PROGRAM OBJECTIVES:


PROGRAM GOALS:

Classes are taught in a state-of-the-art facility designed for cleanroom education. Topics covered include engineering controls required when compounding hazardous drugs, proper use of closed-system drug transfer devices (CSDTDs), procedures for handling hazardous drug spills, hazardous waste containment and disposal, and regulatory compliance. Upon completion, attendees will understand the principles of safe handling of hazardous drugs and how to incorporate these procedures into a workflow. Participants will have the opportunity to brainstorm and discuss issues affecting their facilities with experts in hazardous drug handling.


TARGET AUDIENCE:

Safe Handling and Preparation of Hazardous Drugs is a 10-hour course designed to provide hands-on training to ensure best practice for safe handling and preparation of hazardous drugs. Front-line pharmacists, technicians, nurses, pharmacy and nurse managers and physicians that handle hazardous drugs will benefit from this course. Faculty includes subject matter experts in hazardous drug handling, environmental consulting and USP <797> guidelines.


CONTINUING EDUCATION:

Pharmacists
Educational Review Systems is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) is a provider of continuing pharmaceutical education. This program is approved for 8 hours (0.8 CEUs). ACPE # 761-999-08-002-L04-P.

Nursing
Educational Review Systems is an approved provider of continuing education in nursing by ASNA, an accredited provider by the ANCC/Commission on Accreditation. This program has been approved for up to 8 hours. Provider # 5-115-8-019. Educational Review Systems is also approved for nursing continuing education by the state of California and the District of Columbia.

Physicians
Educational Review Systems (ERS) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential areas and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education. MD #08-003. Educational Review Systems designates this educational activity for a maximum of 8 hours AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. CANCELLATION POLICY

Program Cancellation
The STAR Center reserves the right to cancel the program at any time due to a faculty conflict, inclement weather or low enrollment. In the event of a STAR Center cancellation, registrants will be issued a full refund for the program registration fees only, or be given the opportunity to reschedule for another available class. This cancellation policy applies to all STAR Center Professional Training Programs and Seminars unless otherwise noted on the program’s information page.

Faculty Conflict
In the event of faculty conflict for a scheduled course offering, a cancellation determination will be made no later than 14 business days prior to the start of the scheduled course offering. Every effort will be made to schedule registrants for the cancelled course in the next scheduled course offering, depending on availability. In the event of a STAR Center cancellation due to faculty conflict, registrants will be issued a full refund – for the course registration fees only - or be given the opportunity to reschedule for another course.

Inclement Weather
In the event of inclement weather, the decision to cancel a course will be made no later than 6:00 am the morning of the program. An attempt will be made to contact all registrants via phone or email upon cancellation. Every effort will be made to schedule registrants for the cancelled course in the next available course offering. In the event of a STAR Center cancellation due to inclement weather, registrants will be issued a full refund – for the course registration fees only – or be given the opportunity to reschedule for another available course.

Low Enrollment
A minimum number of registrants for STAR Center courses are required to cover the operating costs. In the event of enrollment below the minimum for a course, a cancellation determination will be made no later than 14 business days prior to the start of the scheduled course offering. Every effort will be made to schedule registrants for the cancelled course in the next available course offering. In the event of a STAR Center cancellation due to low enrollment, registrants will be issued a full refund – for the course registration fees only – or be given the opportunity to reschedule for another available course.

Transfers
Registration may be deferred one time only to a later scheduled course, depending on availability. All registration transfer requests must be submitted in writing to Baxa Customer Service at customer.service@baxa.com.

Registration transfers – individuals attending the course in place of the registered individual – will be honored up to the program start date, and will be honored on site if the request is provided on company letterhead with the names and titles of both the original registrant and the replacement registrant.

Refunds
Refund requests are subject to a $100.00 cancellation fee. All registration cancellations must be submitted in writing, or by e-mail, to Baxa Corporation at the following address:

Registrants may receive 100% of the program registration fees, less $100 cancellation fee up to 30 business days prior to program start date; 50%, less $100 cancellation fee, between 15-30 business days prior to program start date. No refunds are offered for cancellations fewer than 14 business days prior to program start date, or for no shows.
